Council on Energy, Environment and Water releases Climate
Vulnerability Index
• CEEW has released the report “Mapping India’s Climate
Vulnerability: A district level assessment” to assess the vulnerability of
various districts in the country.
• CEEW has also released a Climate Vulnerability Index for states and
union territories my mapping their exposure, sensitivity, and
adaptability.
• According to the report the Southern region is most vulnerable to
to extreme climate events.
• As per the report Bihar along with Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra,
Karnataka, Assam are highly susceptible to extreme climate events like
floods, droughts and cyclones.
Jaynagar-Kurtha Rail Link handed over to Nepal
• The 39.4 km cross border rail link connecting Jaynagar in Bihar to
Kurtha in Nepal has been handed over to Nepal by government of India.
IRCON International Limited (on behalf of the Government of India), the
executing agency of the project handed over the assets of the Jaynagar-
Kurtha section to the Nepal Railway Company Limited (on behalf of the
Government of Nepal).
• This will be the first broad gauge cross border rail link between
India and Nepal.
Climate Resilient Program Started in Bihar along with 6 other States
• Union Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Shri Giriraj
Singh has launched Climate Resilience Information System and
Planning (CRISP-M) tool for integration of climate information in
Geographic Information System (GIS) based watershed planning under
Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Scheme (MGNREGS).
• This tool will be implemented in seven districts of states such as
Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha
and Rajasthan.
Padma awardees from Bihar
• President Ramnath Kovind on Tuesday presented Padma awards
to five recipients from Bihar for 2021 in a civil investiture ceremony held
at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
• Jamui MP Chirag Paswan received the Padma Bhushan award on
behalf of his father late Ram Vilas Paswan for his outstanding
contribution in the field of public affairs.
• Navin Sinha, son of former governor of Goa late Mridula Sinha
received Padma Shri on behalf of his mother for her contribution in the
field of art and literature.
• Noted ‘naach’ performer Ramchandra Manjhi, Dulari Devi (Mithila
painting) and Dr Dilip Kumar Singh (medicine) were also honoured with
Padma Shri at the function.
342MW more power to Bihar through Barh Super Thermal Power
Plant
• Barh Super Thermal Power Plant has present commercial installed
capacity of 1,320MW at present from 2 units of 660MW. With the
commercial augmentation of Unit-1 of stage I, an addition of 342 MW
would be made to the power capacity for the state of Bihar. NTPC
supplies almost 70% of the state’s average daily allocation of power from
central utilities that is between 4,000MW and 4,500MW.
• NTPC Barh is located four kilometres east of the Barh sub-division
on National Highway-31 in Patna district.
‘Gaya school pupils’ project gets intellectual property certificate
• Three students from the Zila School in Gaya, who are part of the
Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), have made a history in the area of innovation.
• The Union government has accepted a proposal that focuses on
obtaining water from the air’s moisture.
• The seven schools in the region have been chosen by the Union
government.
