Namaste aspirants!
1. The 130+ Scoring Essay Structure (90 % Toppers Use This Exact Flow)
Every high-scoring essay follows this proven structure from toppers like Harshita Goyal (AIR 2, 2024) and Anudeep Durishetty (AIR 1, 2017):
- Introduction (100-150 words): Start with a philosophical hook + relevant quote + real-life anecdote. (E.g., For “Women Empowerment”: Begin with Malala’s story + Kofi Annan’s quote.) This grabs the examiner’s attention and sets the tone.
- Body (700-900 words): Multi-dimensional analysis in 4-6 paragraphs:
- Para 2-3: Social/Economic angles (e.g., Gender gaps in India via NFHS data).
- Para 4: Political/Ethical dimensions (e.g., Constitution’s Article 14 + Gandhi’s views).
- Para 5: Challenges + Indian context (e.g., Workplace bias post-2024 surveys).
Use short paragraphs (3-4 lines), underline key points, and balance views (thesis + antithesis). Toppers score extra for coherence and examples from current affairs.
- Conclusion (100-150 words): Visionary forward-look + powerful closing quote/shloka. (E.g., End with “Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra devatah” for empowerment themes.) Summarize without new ideas—leave a unified impression.
This structure ensures logical flow, earning 20-30 extra marks for “effective expression” as per UPSC guidelines.
