HIT (Home Isolation Tracking) Application for COVID Patients
launched in Bihar.
• Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar recently launched “HIT-COVID
App” which will be used to track COVID-19 Patients who are in home
isolation across the state of Bihar.
• The mobile application has been developed by Bihar State
Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. Under the guidance of
Department of Health and Department of Information and Technology.
Important points to note about HIT Application:
• The main aim of the application is to make available better facilities
and ensure timely tracking of the Home Isolated patients in the state of
Bihar.
• The application will support the health care workers in taking
better care of the home isolated patients.
• The basic data related to patient’s temperature and oxygen will be
updated on a regular basis through visits made by health care
personnel.
• This updated data will alert the health officials when a patient’s
oxygen level falls below 94 and the patient will then be immediately
shifted to a COVID Ward for further treatment.

Former Governor of Bihar and Kerala and veteran Congress leader R
L Bhatia passed away.
• Senior Congress leader and former governor of Bihar and Kerala
Mr. Raghu Nandan Lal Bhatia (R L Bhatia) who was also known as the old
horse of Congress Party, passed away in May 2021 after suffering from
COVID-19 in Amritsar Punjab.

• Mr. Bhatia was a 6-time Member of Parliament from Amritsar,
Punjab and served as Minster of External Affairs in 1992 under Narasimha
Rao government.
• He was the governor of Kerala from 2004 to 2008 and governor of
Bihar from 2008 to 2009.

• Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Former Governor of Bihar
Jagannath Pahadiya, who was born on 5th January 1932 in Bhusawar,
Rajasthan passed away due to COVID at the age of 89.
• He was a Member of Parliament for four times and was also the
first dalit chief minister of Rajasthan.
• He also served as Governor of Haryana from 2009 to 2014 and
Governor of Bihar State from 1989 to 1990.
Padma Shree, Aeronautical Scientist Manas Bihari Verma passed
away
• Padam Shree Awardee and prominent aeronautical scientist
Manas Bihari Verma passed away at the age of 77 in darbhanga, Bihar.
• Manas Bihari Verma was born on 29th July 1943 in Darbhanga,
Bihar. He went on to become an aeronautical scientist and worked at
Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) for over 35 years
being a close associate of former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam.
• He played a major role in the development of India’s Light Combat
Aircraft- Tejas.
• He was also responsible for setting in motion the “Mobile Science
Laboratory” in 2010 which was a dream project of the former President
APJ Abdul Kalam.
• He received multiple honors and awards over his career like
DRDO’s scientist of the year award in 2001, DRDO’s technology
leadership awards in 2004.
• He was honored with Padma Shree award in 2018 for his
outstanding contribution to the field of aeronautical engineering.
Tripurari Sharan, IAS appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Bihar
• After the death of former Chief Secretary of Bihar Mr. Arun Kumar
Singh, senior IAS Officer Tripurari Sharan has been appointed as the new
Chief Secretary of Bihar State.
• His tenure will be for a brief period of two months only, according
to a government notification.
• A 1985 batch IAS officer, Mr. Sharan will retire from service on June
30 this year.
• He was holding the responsibility of Chairman of Revenue Council.
• According to the notification issued by the General Administration
department, Sanjeev Kumar Sinha (1986 batch) will replace Mr. Sharan in
Revenue Council.
100th Electric Locomotive rolled out of Madhepura Locomotive
Manufacturing plant
• A French rolling stock manufacturer, Alstom, has manufactured
and delivered its 100th Electric Locomotive to the Indian Railway.
• The delivery is part of a deal worth 3.5 billion Euro signed between
Indian Railways and Alstom in 2015 to manufacture and deliver 800 fully
electric high powered double section locomotives of 12000 HP over a
period of 11 years designed to run on Indian tracks at 120 km per hour..
The deal forms the largest Foreign Direct Investment in the railway
sector.
• The Locomotives and manufactured at India’s largest integrated
greenfield manufacturing plant at Madhepura district, Bihar.
• After this development India has made its place in the 6 countries
around the world that produce such high powered electric locomotives
indigenously.
